The Reagor-Dykes Auto Group co-owner and his wife denied most claims from an insurance company in its $2.4 million dollar lawsuit against the couple. Universal Underwriters Service Corporation sued the Reagors in March, asking for backpay it claims Reagor-Dykes owes from insurance contracts.

In their affirmative defenses, the Reagors claim Universal failed to exercise ordinary care, have unclean hands, and the company's claims are barred by several judicial doctrines, as well as contractual modifications and express language of agreements reached between the Reagor-Dykes Auto Group and Universal. The Reagors also claimed Universal failed to mitigate its own damages.

Throughout their answer to Universal's complaint, the Reagors repeatedly refer to the F&I Master Dealer Agreement and the Personal Guaranty, which Universal claims holds the Reagors personally liable for defaults under the contracts since the Reagor-Dykes Auto Group filed for bankruptcy.

Universal claims the RD Dealers have not made complete payments for May through October of 2018. The Reagors deny that claim, as well as deny an obligation to pay Universal for policy cancellations or defaults under the contracts. The Reagors deny the insurance company's claims the Reagor-Dykes dealers have failed and refused to pay.

The Reagors also deny the terms of an initial loan agreement for $3 million in June 2016 related to Reagor Auto Mall and Reagor-Dykes III; but the Reagors admit to signing a $4.6 million loan with Universal as part of a new agreement in June 2017. The Reagors deny Reagor-Dykes dealerships failed to make a mandatory quarterly payment in October 2018, and deny the Reagor-Dykes Auto Group's petitions for bankruptcy constitute a default of the insurance agreements, instead claiming the agreements stand for themselves.

In their answer, the Reagors denied owing Universal $2,007,678 under the loan agreements, and denied being personally liable for all indebtedness or obligations to Universal, deny breaching the personal guaranty, deny $2.4 million in damage to Universal, and deny failing and refusing to pay.

The Reagors demand a trial by jury and ask US Senior District Judge Sam Cummings to dismiss Universal's lawsuit.
