Texas Tech released its 2020 football schedule Wednesday, with 10 games slated for the season.Big 12 members have agreed to three COVID-19 tests per week.
The season opener is still against Houston Baptist Sept. 12 in Lubbock. The updated schedule shows the Red Raiders will kick offconference play against Texas at Jones Stadium Sept. 26.
Texas Tech will have bye weeks on Sept. 19, Oct. 17 and Nov. 21. Each team has a minimum of two bye weeks, but could end up having a third.
Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby says the conference hasn't come to a decision on how it will handle game cancellations but will before the season starts.
"I never thought moving to the spring made a lot of sense. We hadn't been told that we couldn't play in the fall. Think back to what March, April and May were like. I don't think there's a single indication it'll be safer to play then than in the fall months," Bowlsby said during a media teleconference Wednesday afternoon.
Stadium capacities will be determined by each institution in accordance with local and state health ordinances.Back in June, the governor approved guidelines for outdoor stadiums. The state will allow them to reopen at up to half capacity. Under that guidance, the Jones could hold up to 30,000 people.
